Inflation Continues to Push Up Cost of Living in Nigeria

Nigeria’s inflation rate continues to put pressure on the cost of living, as prices of food, transportation, and basic household items remain high across the country.

Market surveys show that the prices of staple foods such as rice, beans, garri, and cooking oil have increased in many states, forcing households to spend a larger portion of their income on daily needs.

Economists attribute the rising inflation to higher fuel costs, exchange rate challenges, insecurity affecting food production, and increased transportation expenses. These factors, they say, have reduced consumers’ purchasing power.

Many Nigerians say the situation has made it difficult to save, as most earnings are now spent on essential items. Experts are calling for policies that will stabilize prices, support local production, and ease the financial burden on households.
