Rockstar Games has been hit by a fresh cyberattack and this time, hackers are not just leaking… they are demanding.
According to reports, a hacking group known as ShinyHunters gained access to Rockstar’s systems through a third-party cloud vulnerability, allowing them to infiltrate internal company data without directly breaking the company’s core servers.
Once inside, the attackers reportedly accessed internal corporate information, which could include development insights, financial details, or even marketing plans for Grand Theft Auto 6.
But here’s the twist, Rockstar says the damage is limited. The company confirmed that only a “small amount of non-sensitive data” was affected, and insisted that players and game operations remain safe.

Still, the hackers are not backing down.
They have issued a clear ultimatum: Rockstar must make contact and negotiate a ransom before April 14, 2026 or the data gets leaked publicly.
This isn’t just about exposure, it’s cyber extortion.
The group is known for targeting major global companies and demanding payment (often in cryptocurrency) in exchange for keeping stolen data private.
For Rockstar, this is déjà vu. The company is still recovering from the massive 2022 GTA VI leak that exposed early gameplay and cost millions in damages.
Now, with GTA 6 being one of the most anticipated games ever, even a small leak could have huge consequences, from spoilers to security risks.
For gamers, one thing is clear:
The biggest battle around GTA 6 right now isn’t in the game… it’s behind the scenes.
