Randy Waldrum has stepped down as the head coach of the Super Falcons after a four-year tenure.
His resignation was announced in a letter dated September 12.
Waldrum cited his wife’s health issues as the reason for his departure.
“It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that.
After much thought and consideration, I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons. This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad,” the letter reads.
Randy Waldrum, who took up the role of Falcons head coach in 2020, led the team to the semi-finals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
He also guided the African champions to a remarkable performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where they thrilled fans before being narrowly eliminated by England on penalties in the round of 16.
