A broken nose injury was sustained by Mbappe during the France and Austria match on Monday .Mbappe sustained the injury at the Düsseldorf arena after colliding with Austria’s Kevin Danso
France coach Didier Deschamps expressed doubt about Mbappé’s availability for the rest of the tournament right after the match.
Mbappé was quickly taken to a hospital in Düsseldorf, where the French Football Federation confirmed the severity of his injury.
In a statement, the federation announced, “He will begin treatment in the coming days, without needing immediate surgery. A mask will be crafted to allow the French team’s number 10 to consider returning to competition after a treatment period.”
The injury occurred during an aerial challenge when Mbappé’s face collided with Danso’s shoulder, resulting in a bloodied and swollen nose.
Austria goalkeeper Patrick Pentz promptly called for medical assistance upon seeing Mbappé’s condition.
Despite the injury, Mbappé remained positive and addressed the incident on social media, posting, “Any ideas for masks?” on X (formerly Twitter).
France confirmed that Mbappé had rejoined the team’s training camp, suggesting his potential return to play with a protective mask in the near future.
