Fulham have reached an agreement in principle with Real Madrid to sign highly-rated striker Gonzalo García, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Premier League club will pay an initial €40 million, with a further €2 million in performance-related add-ons included in the deal.
As part of the agreement, Real Madrid have secured a 30% sell-on clause, ensuring the Spanish giants will benefit from any future transfer involving the 21-year-old. The deal also includes matching rights, giving Madrid the opportunity to match any future offer should García become available again.
The move is understood to have been strongly backed by Álvaro Arbeloa, who identified García as a priority target during the negotiations.
The transfer is now considered a ‘Here We Go’, indicating that all parties have reached an agreement in principle, with only the formalities remaining before the move is officially completed.
García is regarded as one of Spain’s brightest young attacking talents and will now look to continue his development in the Premier League as Fulham strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
