The United Nations has warned of a worsening global food crisis, with millions at risk due to climate shocks, conflict, and rising food prices. The FAO and WFP report that droughts, floods, and disrupted supply chains are reducing crop yields, while ongoing conflicts in Sudan, Yemen, and Ethiopia prevent farming and displace communities.
Global food prices are rising again, making basic staples unaffordable for vulnerable households. The UN cautioned that millions of children could face malnutrition without urgent action and called on wealthier nations to increase support for emergency food assistance and climate‑resilient agriculture.
“Hunger today risks becoming hunger that lasts a lifetime,” the WFP said, urging coordinated international efforts to prevent famine and protect the world’s most vulnerable populations.
